Veteran musician Eldee The Don has revealed that his father played a pivotal role in introducing the internet to Nigeria.

According to him, his father was instrumental in setting up the first cyber cafe in Lagos and providing internet services to major oil companies and government institutions.

In an interview on the ‘Adesope Live’ show, Eldee highlighted how his father’s groundbreaking work in technology gave him an advantage in his music career. He explained, “Thankfully, I had a dad who was in technology. My dad was a pioneer in his own space as well.”

Eldee emphasized his father’s contribution to Nigeria’s technological advancements, saying, “That man [my dad] was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet. This is something people argue about because they don’t know his name. He wasn’t that guy who wanted to put himself out there.”

He continued, “The very first cyber cafe in Lagos was set up by my dad. The very first connection for Mobil, CBN, and government agencies—my dad was doing all of that.”

Eldee also shared how having early access to technology positively influenced his journey in the music industry. “At that time, we had access to technology that wasn’t really available. So having all of that, I had a studio in our house where the music is being produced,” he explained.

These experiences, he noted, shaped his career and contributed to his success in the Nigerian music scene.
