Chaos erupted at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, when Badiru Folarin, a commercial driver, confronted Prophet Abiodun John, the church’s founder, over claims of an affair with his wife, Morufat.

The situation escalated when the pastor allegedly declared himself the father of Folarin’s four-year-old daughter.

Folarin revealed that his 14-year-old son, Saheed, had informed him about his wife’s frequent visits to the pastor’s residence and her habit of cooking for him. According to Folarin, the pastor boldly told him, “I am the biological father of your last child,” sparking outrage and disbelief.

Folarin accused his wife of neglecting her family, often claiming she was attending church activities. He shared, “I’m a driver and always supported my family, but my wife used the money I gave her to cook for her pastor-lover. She even lived at the church for months, saying it was for spiritual protection.”

Amid the confrontation, Morufat admitted the pastor’s paternity of her child but refused to leave her husband. She declared, “I cannot be married to two men, but my husband has failed to take care of me. I will deal with him when we return home.”

Folarin, however, dismissed her, saying, “You cannot return to my house. Anything can happen if you try.”

Prophet Abiodun defended his actions, stating he had been in a relationship with Morufat for 20 years. He claimed, “Her husband abandoned her with two children. I supported her financially and spiritually. I know I am the father of her last child.” He also admitted their affair led to the collapse of his own marriage.

The pastor and Morufat’s relationship reportedly caused tensions within their families, with Morufat’s mother allegedly supporting the pastor’s claim of paternity. Folarin alleged that his wife had previously aborted a pregnancy for the pastor and used family funds to support him.

Saheed, the teenage son, expressed fear for his safety after revealing his mother’s affair. “My mother threatened to poison me for exposing her secrets to my father,” he said.

The scandal has left the community divided, with Folarin urging authorities to intervene for his family’s safety. Meanwhile, Prophet Abiodun maintains his stance, saying, “I cannot marry Morufat, but I will not deny my child.”
