Long January For Workers As Govt Pays December Salary Mid-Month
The Kogi State Government has paid the December salaries of its civil servants ahead of schedule, on the 14th of the month putting the prospects of a long January for workers in the state.
The government said at the weekend that the early payment was made to allow workers ample time to plan and enjoy their Christmas and New Year holidays.
In a statement, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, explained that this early payment would help civil servants manage their holiday preparations without the stress of waiting for their salaries later in the month. He also noted that a similar initiative was carried out during the Sallah holiday to support workers in celebrating with their families.
Fanwo addressed the press on Saturday, emphasizing that the early salary payment was meant to ensure that civil servants could begin their holiday preparations without delay. “Our civil servants have worked hard throughout the year and have contributed greatly to our development projects. It is important that we make their holiday season special by ensuring they receive their salaries on time,” he said.
He added that this gesture was part of Governor Usman Ododo’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing the welfare of civil servants and rewarding their hard work and dedication.
Fanwo reassured that the governor would continue to focus on improving the well-being of the state’s workforce in the future.
