Nigerian Police Officer Juliet Chukwu Wins Bantamweight Title In Johannesburg

Corporal Juliet Chukwu, a member of the Nigeria Police Force, has emerged victorious in the Bantamweight Championship held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Her outstanding performance at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) highlights the rising prominence of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.

The Nigeria Police Force, through a statement by its Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, celebrated Chukwu’s achievement as a reflection of the Force’s commitment to excellence across various disciplines, including sports. “The Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has once again earned another outstanding honour and made the nation proud,” the statement read. It praised Chukwu’s display of skill and determination in clinching the title.

The Inspector-General of Police reiterated the Force’s dedication to promoting sports, particularly in the fast-growing field of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He noted that the establishment of the Nigeria Police MMA Association, the organization of the inaugural IGP MMA Open National Championship, and the inclusion of MMA demonstrations in the 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) underscore this commitment. “This remarkable achievement highlights the growing prowess of Nigerian athletes on the global stage,” the statement emphasized.

Additionally, the IGP reaffirmed support for Corporal Chukwu and other officers excelling in sports, stressing that the Police Force aims to achieve more honors in various areas. “The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to organizational development and success, with several programs and initiatives emplaced towards this goal, even in the area of sports.
