Okpebholo Uproots More Obaseki Appointees, Dissolves Commissions
The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate dissolution of all commissions in the state’s public service.
This decision dissolving the commissions appointed by his predecessor, Mr Godwin Obaseki was announced through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
In the statement, Governor Okpebholo instructed the chairmen and members of the affected commissions to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior public officer within their respective commissions.
The statement clarified the scope of the directive: “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of all Commissions in Edo State Government Public Service with immediate effect.”
It also emphasized that the affected commissions include the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Forestry Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, State Audit Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission.
The Governor’s directive dissolving all the the state commissions in State aims to ensure proper transition and accountability within the public service as the changes take effect.
