President Bola Tinubu has promised to continue building on the legacy left by his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

Tinubu made his commitment to the Buhari legacy in a message issued by the presidency on Tuesday, in celebration of the immediate past president’s 82nd birthday.

In his message, President Tinubu praised Buhari for his years of service and leadership, which, according to Tinubu, have significantly shaped the nation’s development. He stated, “Your steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s advancement and unity inspires many, and your enduring legacy continues to guide our nation’s journey towards prosperity and stability.”

The Nigerian leader also acknowledged Buhari’s resilience in repeatedly contesting for the presidency. Tinubu noted that Buhari’s perseverance in presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011, before finally winning in 2015 and again in 2019, is a powerful lesson in never giving up. He remarked, “Your doggedness and resilience in contesting presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011 before winning them in 2015 and 2019 also inspire us never to give up.”

Furthermore, President Tinubu assured Buhari that he would build on the infrastructure achievements of the former president, emphasizing, “I will continue to build on the infrastructure legacy you bequeathed to our nation as the leader of our country’s first All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.”

In his birthday message, President Tinubu wished Buhari health, happiness, and fulfillment, adding, “On this special day, may you be surrounded by the love of your family and friends and continue to enjoy good health, happiness, and fulfilment in all your endeavors, now and in the future.”

Concluding his message, Tinubu expressed deep respect and admiration for Buhari, saying, “Happy Birthday, and thank you for your services to Nigeria.”

The message was signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..
