26-Year-Old Lawyer Wins Miss Nigeria Pageant (Video)

Doris Ogah, a 26-year-old lawyer and model representing the South-South region, has been named the winner of the 2024 Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant. The event which held at the Royal Box in Victoria Island, Lagos, featured the theme “Beyond Beauty: Reigning Together as Queens.”

This year’s competition began with 45 contestants, from which 20 semifinalists were chosen. The finalists were then narrowed down to 10 before the final stage. Doris Ogah triumphed over strong contenders, including Ann Eneanya, Abosede Sorinola, Oluwatofunmi Adekola, Praise Obafemi, Diane Paul, Simeon Obianujuwa, Faith Ogbele, Divine Nelson, and Oluwabukumi Ogunsanya.

The judging panel, led by Mo Abudu, included prominent figures such as designer Mai Atafo, actress Kate Henshaw, and photographer Kelechi Amadi-Obi. Others on the panel were Dr. Adaobi Nwakuche, Olatomiwa Williams, Wunmi Ogunbiyi, Aisha Abba Kyari, actress Ini Edo, TV host Michelle Dede, and former Miss Nigeria Ezinne Akudo Anyaoha.

The competition’s top 10 contestants were reduced to five after a question-and-answer session. They were asked, “If you win your crown tonight, how will you use your platform to address the challenges Nigerian youths face?” Doris Ogah, along with Ann Eneanya, Divine Nelson, Diane Paul, and Oluwabukumi Ogunsanya, advanced to the final round.

After answering the final question, Doris Ogah was declared the winner, becoming the 45th Miss Nigeria.

The outgoing Miss Nigeria, Shatu Garko, shared heartfelt advice for her successor:
“To my successor, congratulations on beginning this incredible chapter. Embrace this journey with an open heart. Your crown is more than a symbol; it is a tool to inspire and uplift others. Trust yourself; you have everything it takes to shine in this role.”

Doris Ogah further reflected on her reign, stating:
“As I hand over this crown, I do so with gratitude and hope for the future. Though my reign ends here, the impact and memories will stay with me forever. This is not a goodbye; it is the beginning of a new chapter.”

The Miss Nigeria pageant, which has celebrated beauty, intelligence, and cultural heritage for decades, remains a prominent event in Nigeria’s social calendar. This year’s edition continued its tradition of empowering women and providing them with a platform to effect positive change.
