Dele Farotimi Released From Ekiti Prison
Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has been released from prison after meeting his bail conditions.
This was confirmed by Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), who shared the news in a post on X on Tuesday.
Sowore announced that Farotimi was freed from the Ekiti prison and was on his way back to his home in Lagos. He wrote, “I am pleased to report that Dele Farotimi is no longer being held at the prison yards in Ekiti state and is now returning home to Lagos. The struggle continues!”
Farotimi had been arrested earlier in December on charges of defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado Ekiti.
A few days ago, a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti granted him bail, setting the amount at ₦30 million.
