The community of Onicha Uku in Delta State experienced a festive uplift as 1,800 bags of rice were distributed to households, a gesture of goodwill from philanthropist Tony Elumelu.

The initiative, carried out in his personal capacity, aimed to bring joy and dignity to families during the holiday season.

Representatives from various community groups, including traditional leaders, youth organizations, and religious bodies, gathered at Elumelu’s residence for the orderly distribution. Addressing the gathering, Nasir Ramon, Head of Media and External Relations at UBA, represented Elumelu and spoke about his unwavering commitment to uplifting his people.

“This event symbolizes the spirit of Christmas—love, generosity, and kindness,” Ramon said. “Tony Elumelu remains deeply connected to his roots and dedicated to creating a brighter future for his community.”

He further emphasized the importance of giving back, urging everyone to reflect on the act of kindness. “As we receive these gifts, let’s also strive to make a difference in the lives of others in any way we can,” he advised.

Several beneficiaries, including Chief Steve Osakwe and Mrs. Ngozi Olise, shared their gratitude for the initiative. They applauded Elumelu’s numerous contributions to the development of Onicha Uku and his positive influence across the region, the nation, and beyond.
