Jesutega Onokpasa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has openly acknowledged the party’s failure in addressing Nigeria’s food production challenges.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV’s morning show, Onokpasa, an APC chieftain assessed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent media chat and delivered a candid critique of the administration’s performance.

“We (APC) have failed woefully in producing food for our citizens,” Onokpasa admitted, expressing disappointment with the government’s inability to fulfill campaign promises centered on agricultural development.

Recalling the ridicule APC supporters faced during the campaign, Onokpasa said, “When we were campaigning for this administration, people were calling us ‘Agbadorians’ because our president was always talking about producing food. But unfortunately, we don’t seem to be producing food, and we just have to accept, that’s our fault.”

The remark highlights growing internal and public discontent with the administration’s handling of key sectors, including agriculture, which was a cornerstone of Tinubu’s campaign promises. Many Nigerians had anticipated significant strides in food security, but the reality, according to Onokpasa, has fallen short of expectations.

The APC chieftain’s comments come at a time when citizens are grappling with rising food prices and economic instability, a situation compounded by the assertions of Onokpasa.
