Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a ₦100,000 Christmas bonus for all civil servants and pensioners in the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved a N100,000 Christmas bonus for civil servants in the state with pensioners also revealed as beneficiaries.

The announcement of the Christmas bonus was made in a statement by the Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, on Tuesday.

GWG.ng reports that this marks the second consecutive year that civil servants in Rivers State will receive a bonus, which is notably higher than the national minimum wage.

In a new development, pensioners have also been included in the initiative for the first time, highlighting the state government’s commitment to improving the welfare of retirees.

The bonus is aimed at ensuring a more comfortable holiday season for workers and retirees amid prevailing economic challenges.

In his Christmas message, Governor Fubara urged the people of Rivers State to foster peace, unity, and love during the festive period and beyond. He also expressed optimism for the coming year, reassuring residents that 2025 would bring fresh opportunities for growth and prosperity.

The gesture has been widely praised, with many describing it as a welcome relief during the holiday season.
