Why NDDC Intervened On Owerri-Port Harcourt Road – MD
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has started fixing damaged sections of the Owerri-Port Harcourt Road in Imo State.
The NDDC repair work on the Owerri-Port Harcourt road is specifically being carried out on portions of the road between Umuapu and Umuagwo.
The Managing Director of NDDC inspected the site and explained that the poor condition of the road required urgent action. He noted that the intervention was necessary to make the road usable for travelers as soon as possible. During his visit, the construction team briefed him about the progress of the emergency repairs.
Speaking on the project, the NDDC chief said, “Following a presidential directive to intervene urgently to restore the dilapidated sections of regional roads, the NDDC has quickly mobilized construction companies to carry out remedial works to ensure that the people do not suffer unnecessary pains while traveling.”
He thanked the government for responding promptly to complaints about bad roads in the region. He expressed confidence that the repairs would be durable and provide long-term relief to commuters. He also emphasized the NDDC’s role in supporting both federal and state governments to reduce the struggles faced by road users.
The NDDC boss showed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far and praised the contractor for their commitment to completing the project quickly. He urged local residents and road users to be patient during the construction process.
A commercial bus driver using the Owerri-Port Harcourt road expressed gratitude to the NDDC for addressing the problem promptly. He noted that the repairs would reduce the hardship faced by commuters on the route.
