Police governor Fintiri robbery attack

Police give clarity on reports of armed robbers’ attack on the convoy of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.

The police in Adamawa State have debunked reports that claimed that armed robbers attacked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s convoy in Taraba State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Moris Danwambo, called the reports misleading and completely untrue saying that the governor was not in the convoy consisting of his advance team which confronted and cleared a road block mounted by armed robbers.

Danwambo explained that on December 19, the advance security vehicle in Governor Fintiri’s convoy, while returning from Taraba State, encountered a roadblock set up by robbers. He noted that the advance vehicle was positioned ahead of the convoy as part of standard security protocol for VIP movements.

Upon reaching the scene, the roadblock caused a disruption, with other vehicles along the route being forced to stop. However, the governor’s advance security team, consisting of dedicated officers, responded quickly by driving the robbers away. They cleared the road, allowing all motorists to continue their journey safely.

The Commissioner praised the officers on the governor’s advanced convoy who repelled the armed robbers that wanted to attack the convoy and other motorists.

He also urged social media users to always verify their information before sharing it publicly. Additionally, the Police Command expressed gratitude to journalists for their ongoing support in educating and sensitizing the public on peacekeeping efforts.
