Abimbola Fashola Tinubu funds

The former First Lady of Lagos State, Abimbola Fashola, has addressed financial issues during her time in office, revealing she did not receive any money directly into her account until President Bola Tinubu intervened.

She clarified that all her projects as First Lady were funded personally and not supported by government funds.

In an interview on Thursday, Mrs. Fashola shared that she later learned some individuals were allegedly receiving money from the Ministry of Education in her name without her knowledge. “I remember a time when I heard that the Ministry of Education was supposedly giving me money. To this day, I don’t know who collected that money, but I never received it,” she explained.

Mrs. Fashola noted that her empowerment programs, which she initiated during her tenure, were her personal endeavors. She mentioned that during her 45th birthday, President Tinubu was informed about her efforts and lack of funding. “When the current president heard about my work, he asked if anyone had supported me, and I said no. It was then he directed local government chairmen to provide financial support. That was the only time money went into my account,” she stated.

She also emphasized that her projects remain her private initiatives, continuing even after her tenure. “My projects are not state-owned. They are mine, and that’s why I am still running them to this day,” she said.

Mrs. Fashola reiterated her independence and commitment to her causes, showcasing her dedication to her personal empowerment programs.
