Fury Over Extortion In Aboh Mbaise

Youths Transfer Money Security Personnel

A case of extortion and harassment by security personnel has been reported in Aboh Mbaise, Imo State. Eyewitnesses say that over 50 young people were forced at gunpoint to transfer money from their bank accounts to POS accounts at a checkpoint along the Enyiogugu Mbaise road.

This alleged acts of extortion have led widespread anger among the local residents in the Aboh Mbaise area.

Many are calling on traditional rulers, including Eze Leo Nwokocha, and other community leaders to step in and stop the alleged abuses.

According to reports, the extortion has forced many youths to avoid the checkpoint by traveling at night. However, this has put them at greater risk of robbery and kidnapping.

Stanley, an eyewitness, urged the Imo State Police Command to immediately investigate and take action. He also mentioned that similar incidents had been reported in the area, increasing public pressure for a prompt response.

“The Imo State Police Command has been urged to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure the safety and security of the youths in the community,” Stanley said. “It is worth noting that there have been reports of insecurity in Imo State, including kidnapping and armed robbery. The state government and security agencies have been working to address the situation, but more needs to be done to ensure the safety and security of citizens.”

On Friday, the police spokesman in the state, Henry Okoye, assured the public that necessary steps would be taken to apprehend and punish any officers found guilty of the extortion in the Aboh Mbaise area.
