Manchester United Plans £63.3m Bid For Victor Osimhen

Manchester United is reportedly preparing a £63.3 million bid to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the January transfer window.

Manager Ruben Amorim is keen to resolve the club’s ongoing struggles with scoring, which have been evident throughout the season.

Reports suggest that Manchester United have already opened discussions with Osimhen’s representatives, making significant progress despite competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. The Red Devils are prioritizing the acquisition of the talented forward to address their lackluster offensive performance, having managed just 21 goals in all competitions this season—one of the lowest among Premier League teams.

However, Osimhen is currently on a season-long loan at Galatasaray, and Manchester United would need to negotiate additional terms to terminate that agreement. The player, though, has publicly expressed his commitment to staying with Galatasaray until the end of the season. Following a recent match where he scored twice in a 3-2 victory against Tottenham, Osimhen said, “I will not leave in January; I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are discussing regarding my future, but if they come to speak with me, I will listen. Galatasaray is a wonderful club that I truly appreciate.”

Since joining Galatasaray in September, Osimhen has been in excellent form, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in just 15 appearances. His impressive performances have made him a highly sought-after player in the transfer market.

Napoli reportedly set Osimhen’s release clause at £75 million but may consider accepting the £63.3 million offer from Manchester United. This potential deal has drawn attention from analysts, with former Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu expressing doubt about Galatasaray’s ability to secure Osimhen permanently. He stated, “It is difficult for Galatasaray to buy Victor Osimhen. I can confidently say that they cannot. Galatasaray might be able to go up to a certain point financially, but beyond that, it could pose challenges.”

Manchester United’s interest in Osimhen comes amidst a challenging season. The club is currently in 14th place in the Premier League, following consecutive defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves. They are precariously close to the relegation zone, far removed from their usual fight for top-four positions.
