Mr Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has criticized former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, over remarks perceived as a jab at his principal.

Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt, Odili commended Governor Sim Fubara for his leadership and resilience amid challenges in the state. Odili also stated that Fubara had prevented an individual from turning Rivers State into a “private estate,” a comment widely interpreted as a reference to Wike.

In response, Olayinka, via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, expressed disappointment, describing Odili’s statement as unbecoming of an elder statesman. He accused the former governor of engaging in divisive partisanship.

He wrote: “Read the comments made by the former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, today, and I can’t but be disappointed that someone who should be acting like an elder statesman can reduce himself to such a ridiculous level of partisanship.”

Olayinka further criticized Odili for abandoning his role as a neutral and respected figure, suggesting that such actions tarnish his legacy.

GWG.ng reports that Odili and Wike had gotten along well while the later was governor.
