Wike Mocks Odili As Rivers War Gets Personal (Video)
By Benjamin Abioye
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that he revived the political career of former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili.
Wike stated that Odili was unable to gain any political influence when Rotimi Amaechi was Governor of Rivers State, as he could not even get near power during that time.
Wike made these comments during a special thanksgiving service organized by Martin Amaewhule, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The event took place at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Church of the Holy Spirit, Eliozu Parish, Port Harcourt.
In his speech, Wike responded to an earlier attack from Odili, who had accused him of turning Rivers State into a private estate. Wike fired back, calling Odili an ingrate for supporting the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and labeled him a “local man.”
Wike continued, “Must you be a trader all the time? As governor for eight years, what else are you looking for?” He explained that he did not want to comment initially but was moved to speak after hearing Odili’s remarks on social media. He shared, “In 2007, after he left office, he couldn’t come near power in the State because Amaechi was the governor then. He was gone! Like somebody said, God will use someone to lift up someone. When I came in as governor in 2015, I won’t use the word resurrected, but I brought him back to life.”
This statement was shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
