Anthony Joshua Visits visits Tinubu

Two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has visited President Bola Tinubu at his residence in Lagos.

The visit was shared by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, through a post on X (formerly Twitter). During the visit, Joshua presented President Tinubu with an autographed boxing glove as a sign of respect.

In addition to his meeting with the president, Joshua’s contributions to sports were recognized by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. The governor announced that Joshua would serve as the torchbearer for the rescheduled 2024 National Sports Festival. During a meeting in Ogun State on December 30, Governor Abiodun expressed his excitement about Joshua’s involvement, saying, “We are thrilled to officially welcome you as our sports ambassador and request that you return to ignite the torch for the Gateway Sports Festival.”

Governor Abiodun also revealed plans to build a new indoor boxing ring in honor of Joshua at a stadium in Abeokuta. He emphasized that the facility would encourage Joshua to visit more often and help foster a stronger sports culture in the state.

Furthermore, the governor offered Joshua a new residence in Sagamu, hoping to deepen their collaboration on sports development. He also encouraged Joshua to work with the Director General of the National Sports Commission and the state’s Commissioner for Sports Development to organize a boxing championship in Ogun State.

The governor praised Joshua’s global achievements and reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting his career in every way possible.
