AEDC two-week outage Abuja

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced that some areas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will experience power outages for two weeks.

This interruption will begin on Monday, January 6, and is expected to last until January 21, 2021.

In a notice shared on its social media platforms, AEDC explained that the outage is due to the relocation of the 33kv DC Airport Feeder and 132 KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers. This relocation is being carried out by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) along the Outer Southern Expressway.

The company listed the affected areas, which include Lugbe and surrounding communities, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, American International School, Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, EFCC headquarters, Coca-Cola, Railway, FMC, parts of Apo and Gudu, Gbazango, Kubwa, Bwari, and their environs. Other affected areas are parts of Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi, and some additional sections of Abuja.

AEDC apologized for the inconvenience caused by the power outage and assured residents that efforts are being made to minimize the downtime. “We are working round the clock to reduce downtime as much as possible, and we regret any inconvenience,” the company stated.
