By Benjamin Abioye
Former Secretary to the Government of Kwara State and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Saka Abimbola Isau, has passed away at the age of 69. He died on Saturday at a hospital in Ilorin after a brief illness.
Saka Isau was a notable chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara and a key ally of former Senate President Bukola Saraki. During Saraki’s administration, he served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. A loyal figure in the Saraki political dynasty, Isau was a respected politician who once vied for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in 2019 before stepping down for Razak Atunwa.
Despite managing health challenges such as diabetes and high blood pressure, Isau appeared healthy the day before his death. On Friday, he attended a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Ilorin Juma’at Mosque Central Working Committee.
He is survived by his wife and four children, including one who is also a lawyer. His burial is set for Sunday, with Janazah prayers at his family home in Gaa Aremu, Ilorin.
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed his condolences, calling Saka Isau a distinguished lawyer and dedicated public servant. His passing has prompted tributes from many across the state, honoring his contributions to law and public service.
