Abducted EYN Pastors Released
By Benjamin Abioye
Two pastors from the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria, EYN), Rev. James Kwayang and his Secretary, Rev. Ishaku Chiwar, who were abducted last week, have been released.
Dr. Daniel Mbaya, the President of the EYN, confirmed their release and expressed gratitude for the prayers of the church members and well-wishers. A statement from the church’s Media and Communication Officer, Mr. Mbursa Jinatu, highlighted the importance of collective prayer and support.
“We celebrate the safe return of these two dedicated servants of God. This moment reminds us of the power of prayer and the unity of our community,” Dr. Mbaya said.
While the church has not commented on whether a ransom was paid for their release, it was reported that the pastors were abducted from their base in the Malabu area of Fufore Local Government in Adamawa State.
As of the morning of January 6, 2025, the Adamawa State Police Command had not provided any updates on the matter.
