Caught! Ekiti Petrol Thief (Video)

A man who became infamous for fleeing a fuel station without paying for petrol has been arrested in Ekiti State, bringing a dramatic end to a story of the petrol thief that has stirred widespread reactions on social media.

The alleged petrol thief whose identity is yet to be disclosed, was caught on camera in a calculated move to evade payment after filling up in an Ekiti petrol station.

In the now-viral footage, he was seen calmly walking to his car after instructing the attendant to fill his tank with 59.20 litres of petrol, valued at ₦58,548.40. As the tank was being topped up, the man walked over to his gate, pretending to widen it for easier access. However, in a shocking twist, he swiftly drove off without settling the bill.

The daring escape drew public outrage and prompted a search for the offender. Security operatives launched an investigation, leading to his eventual arrest.

The arrest of the alleged thief whose action had put the fate of the petrol attendant who attended to him at the Ekiti Fuel Station at risk is bound to bring comfort to the attendant and all those whose were discomforted by the man.
