Corps members across Nigeria will soon receive an increased monthly allowance of ₦77,000, according to Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

General Ahmed shared this update in Abuja while inaugurating a staff bus donated by a private company.

He assured that preparations for the allowance increment had been completed, emphasizing that the welfare and security of corps members are his highest priorities. “By 2025, corps members will receive all the benefits they deserve. Their security and welfare are my primary focus,” he stated.

The newly commissioned bus, General Ahmed explained, will help address transportation issues faced by staff and corps members. “Staff of the scheme and corps members have always complained about difficulties in commuting to and from the office. This donation will significantly ease these challenges,” he said.

In a separate address, General Ahmed advised corps members against traveling at night or using unregistered vehicles. He stressed the importance of obtaining proper permissions if traveling becomes necessary.

The NYSC DG further encouraged corps members to identify and address the needs of their host communities. He urged them to initiate projects that would positively impact their surroundings, saying, “Be agents of development who bring solutions to the challenges of your host communities.”

General Ahmed gave these directives while addressing corps members at the orientation camps in Anambra State (Mbaukwu) and Ebonyi State (Afikpo). He reiterated that all members should prioritize their safety while serving their communities.
