West Ham United have announced the dismissal of Head Coach Julen Lopetegui following a challenging start to the 2024/25 season.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the club revealed that the results during the opening months of the campaign did not meet the high expectations set by the board, leading to the decision to part ways with the Spaniard.

Along with Lopetegui, several key members of the coaching staff have also been let go. This includes Assistant Head Coach Pablo Sanz, Head of Performance Oscar Caro, Head Analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, Fitness Coach Borja De Alba, and Technical Coach Edu Rubio. The departures are effective immediately, marking a significant shake-up at the club.

The decision comes as a surprise to many, as there had been hope that Lopetegui’s leadership would turn the team’s fortunes around. Despite a solid managerial history, the Spaniard struggled to convert that success into consistent performances at West Ham. As a result, the club has opted for a bold change in order to pursue its long-term goals.

In their statement, the Board expressed gratitude for Lopetegui and his staff’s commitment, acknowledging the difficulties they faced. “We thank Julen and his staff for their hard work and wish them the best of success moving forward,” the statement read.

With the managerial position now vacant, West Ham confirmed that the search for a new head coach has already begun. Fans will be eagerly anticipating the appointment of a new leader who can restore the team’s hopes and push the club back into competitive contention.
