BREAKING: How Commissioner Died After EXCO Meeting

The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Abubakar Robert Ewa, has died.

Abubakar Ewa who served as commissioner for tourism, arts and culture passed away on Wednesday evening at Arubah Specialist Hospital, Calabar, the state capital, hours after attending the regular State Executive Council meeting.

The news of the commissioner’s sudden demise has left members of the Cross River State Executive Council and aides of Governor Bassey Otu in mourning. Many gathered at the hospital to commiserate with his family.

Ewa had been actively engaged in state affairs just hours before his passing, attending the Wednesday executive council meeting presided over by Governor Otu.

Throughout his career, Ewa held various leadership roles, including serving as Secretary and Chairman of Boki Local Government Council. He also contributed significantly as Special Adviser on Community Relations and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.

His death marks a significant loss for Cross River State, where he was widely respected for his dedication to public service and cultural development.

GWG.ng reports that Abubakar Ewa as the state commissioner for culture had been actively engaged in the recent Calabar Carnival which took place last month.
