Police Arrest Woman Over Brutal Assault On 5-Year-Old Stepdaughter (Video)

Ihsanatu Shaaibu, the woman at the center of a viral video showing the brutal assault of her 5-year-old stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Police.
The disturbing footage, which triggered a wave of outrage across social media, captured Shaaibu inflicting severe injuries on the young child. Public condemnation led to swift action, culminating in her arrest on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Confirming the development, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, stated that investigations are ongoing. He assured that the suspects would face the full weight of the law upon conclusion of the inquiry.
“We are committed to ensuring justice is served in this case. The protection of children remains a top priority, and acts of violence against them will not be tolerated,” Adejobi said.
The graphic nature of the video sparked a national outcry, with child rights advocates, citizens, and various organizations calling for stricter enforcement of child protection laws. Many highlighted the urgent need for robust systems to prevent abuse and protect vulnerable children from harm.
Adejobi further assured the public of the police force’s dedication to transparency, pledging to provide regular updates as the case progresses.
“This case will be handled with the seriousness it deserves, and we will keep the public informed at every stage,” he added following the arrest of Ihsanatu Shaaibu.
