Nigerian comedian Seyi Law, now a Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment and Tourism to the Ondo State Governor, has stirred reactions after sharing his thoughts on the ongoing disagreement between skit maker Mr. Macaroni and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Seyi Law entered the fray upon the controversy which began when Mr. Macaroni defended his decision to snub Governor Sanwo-Olu during a public event.

He defended himself on the claim that the governor “meant nothing” to him.

Seyi Law, weighing in on the issue, took to his X handle to share his experience. He wrote:
“Nobody should blame Macaroni for the way he speaks to Gov. @jidesanwoolu. Gov. BOS will see me and act like he doesn’t know me, but he will be begging Macaroni for a handshake. Everybody get out.”

The post immediately went viral, drawing mixed reactions. Some criticized Seyi Law for seeking attention, while others mocked his remarks. A user, @Omolomo_o, wrote, “Imagine coming to the public to confess that you crave attention and you always get ignored. Lmao!” Similarly, @SIMMYTEMMY stated, “The governor attends to people who have something to offer, not someone like you with zero sense.” Seyi Law, however, responded humorously, saying, “Na true.”

Another user, @JosephKetyl, defended the governor, saying, “The governor is wise enough to spot a sycophant. He knows Macaroni is self-reliant, principled, and classy—unlike you APC touts who only seek personal gain.” To this, Seyi Law replied, “You no lie.”

Despite the criticisms, Seyi Law maintained a lighthearted tone in his replies. For instance, when @olatundekazeem called him a “scumbag,” he jokingly responded, “No, na bag of cement.”

The incident that triggered the debate over Mr. Macaroni’s public refusal to greet Governor Sanwo-Olu. Defending his actions, Mr. Macaroni had said on X, “I will continue to snub your governor. He doesn’t mean anything to me.” He also dismissed those criticizing him as “slaves.”

While Mr. Macaroni’s bold stance earned praise from some users, others felt it was unnecessary. Amid the heated exchanges, Seyi Law’s comments turned the spotlight onto him, with many questioning his motives or laughing at his candid replies.

The drama highlights the challenges public figures face when sharing personal opinions, especially on divisive topics, as every word is dissected by the ever-vocal social media audience.
