Barcelona claimed the Spanish Super Cup in emphatic fashion, overpowering Real Madrid 5-2 in a thrilling final on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.

Barcelona’s triumph with the Super Cup marks the first trophy under coach Hansi Flick, who has made a promising start to his tenure.

Real Madrid opened the scoring early as Kylian Mbappé found the back of the net, giving Los Blancos a momentary edge. However, Barcelona swiftly roared back with a mesmerizing attacking display. Lamine Yamal leveled the score in the 22nd minute before Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde piled on three more goals, putting the Blaugrana in a commanding 4-1 lead by halftime.

The second half saw Raphinha net his second of the night, further extending Barcelona’s dominance. Despite a brief fightback from Real Madrid, highlighted by a sensational free-kick goal from Rodrygo, their hopes of a comeback were dashed. Barcelona’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was sent off for a foul on Mbappé in the 56th minute, reducing the Catalans to 10 men.

Even with the numerical disadvantage, Barcelona’s defense held firm, securing their 15th Spanish Super Cup title. The victory not only reinforces the club’s hunger for silverware but also cements Flick’s arrival as a transformative figure at Camp Nou.
