President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to the Lagos State Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the people of Badagry over the passing of Chief Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, a former Lagos State Head of Service and respected elder statesman.

Chief Ajose, who passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 78, was remembered by the President as a visionary leader and a key figure in Lagos State’s development.

In a statement, President Tinubu described Ajose as “an astute administrator and a committed party leader.” He recalled their time working together during his tenure as governor, highlighting Ajose’s significant contributions to civil service reforms. “When I appointed him as Head of Service, he became a rallying point. He had considerable influence on the workers and played a pivotal role in aligning the civil service with our policies and initiatives,” Tinubu noted.

The President also reflected on Ajose’s broader impact, emphasizing his dedication to the development of Badagry and Lagos State as a whole. He recognized Ajose’s role as the sole representative of Badagry in the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, acknowledging it as a testament to his leadership and commitment to public service.

Tinubu extended his sympathies to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the government, and the people of Lagos, praying for strength for the Ajose family. “Even after his tenure as Head of Service, we remained very close because of his leadership qualities and his commitment to development,” he added.

Born on February 10, 1946, in Badagry, Chief Ajose pursued higher education in the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1973, and a master’s degree from Governors State University in 1974. He joined the Lagos Civil Service in 1979 and rose to the position of Head of Service in 2004 under then-Governor Tinubu’s administration.

President Tinubu concluded his tribute by praying for the eternal rest of Chief Ajose’s soul and reaffirming his legacy as a dedicated public servant and leader.
