Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has expressed his belief that Nigerians are currently enduring economic hardships due to their choices in the 2023 elections.

Speaking at the two-day “Recovery Conference 2025” in Bauchi State on Tuesday and Wednesday, Suleman did not hold back in criticizing the election decisions of Nigerians.

In an interview after a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed, he stated, “What Nigerians are going through is partly what they deserve. Before the election, we cried out, we screamed, we yelled. The man (President Bola Tinubu) who came into leadership had no manifesto—just a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ mantra.”

Suleman referred to the controversial remark by President Tinubu during the 2023 elections, where he stated “Emilokan,” meaning “It is my turn,” emphasizing his entitlement to the presidency. According to the pastor, the failure of the Nigerian electorate to make informed decisions has contributed to the country’s ongoing struggles.

The pastor further criticized the current administration for its alleged mismanagement of Nigeria’s oil sector. “The oil sector has been plundered. In the next 10 to 15 years, I don’t think Nigerians will recover from the damage. Now, all we can do is pray,” Suleman lamented.

He also called for reflection ahead of the 2027 elections, urging Nigerians to learn from their past mistakes. “Unless Nigerians have suffered enough, they might repeat the same mistakes,” he warned.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who hosted Suleman, also shared similar concerns. While commending the pastor for his spiritual leadership, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration’s policies. He described the policies as directionless, potentially leading to disaster. “Tinubu’s policies don’t have a clear vision and are taking us to the road to perdition and destruction,” said Governor Mohammed. He also stressed the need for tax reforms that would have a national impact, adding, “I don’t have anything against the president but respect.”
