Alaska flight attendant fired twerking

A former flight attendant, Nelle Diala, has found herself at the center of a heated debate after posting a video of herself twerking in uniform while waiting for a pilot on an empty plane.

Diala, who was employed by Alaska Airlines, was let go from her position after the video went viral.

In the TikTok clip, which has garnered over 72,000 views, Diala was seen dancing and celebrating the end of her probationary period. The San Francisco native captioned the video, “ghetto bih till i D-I-E, don’t let the uniform fool you,” expressing her pride in overcoming a tough upbringing in her hometown.

“I was just celebrating the end of my probation and wanted to share a fun moment,” Diala explained in a statement. “It was a poor decision, but I didn’t think it would cost me my dream job.”

Despite her explanation, Alaska Airlines decided to terminate Diala’s employment, citing a violation of company policies, including their social media guidelines. “They didn’t listen to my side or allow me to explain before firing me,” Diala said. “There was no investigation—just termination.”

In response to the backlash, Diala reposted the controversial video on her TikTok account with a new caption: “Can’t even be yourself anymore, without the world being so sensitive. What’s wrong with a little twerk before work? People act like they never did that before.” She added the hashtag #discriminationisreal and shared that she felt devastated by the loss of her job.

The video has sparked a variety of reactions online, with some supporting Diala’s playful spirit, while others criticize her actions. “She violated the airline’s social media policy. She got what she deserved,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Nothing wrong with twerking before work, but doing it in uniform and on company property is a different story.”

On the other hand, some individuals voiced their support for Diala. One user criticized Alaska Airlines for being too sensitive, saying, “Shame on Alaska Airlines for overreacting. We’ll support you, Nelle.”

Diala has since shifted her focus to her growing lingerie and dessert business, which she had been using her airline salary to support. She expressed her disappointment but stated she would continue pursuing her entrepreneurial dreams. “Although it was my dream job, I was also working on my side businesses, @cakezncake and @figure8.lingerie.”

As the debate continues, it’s clear that Diala’s viral video has sparked a broader conversation about workplace behavior, social media, and corporate policies. Whether her actions were an innocent display of celebration or a breach of professionalism, the incident has ignited strong opinions on both sides.
