A tragic fuel tanker explosion occurred on Saturday morning at Dikko Junction in Niger State, close to Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The incident claimed several lives, including those of a pregnant woman and her children. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion happened while people were attempting to scoop fuel from the overturned tanker.

According to reports, individuals at the scene were transferring fuel into jerrycans and other containers when the tanker suddenly exploded. Some even used a generator to aid in the process, which may have triggered the devastating fire.

An eyewitness described the aftermath, saying, “I saw the bodies of the victims, but I cannot confirm the exact number of fatalities. Among the deceased were a pregnant woman and some children.”

The exact number of casualties remains unclear, but many people are feared dead or injured due to the explosion. Emergency responders, including firefighters, were still working to extinguish the flames at the time of the report.

This unfortunate event highlights the dangers of attempting to collect fuel from accident scenes, a practice that has led to similar tragedies in the past.
