Wike to Odili

Amid swirling rumors that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was flown to London on Thursday night for urgent medical treatment, his media aide, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed the claims with biting sarcasm.

Olayinka, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications to Wike, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to mock reports of the minister’s supposed medical emergency.

In a tweet from his official handle, Olayinka sarcastically remarked that if Wike had indeed traveled to London for medical treatment on Thursday, he must have employed “witchcraft” to return in time for his public engagements the following day. He referenced Wike’s Friday visits to several communities in Abuja, including Dape, Life Camp, Gishiri, and Pigba Sama, where he inspected ongoing development projects.

“Wike was flown to London on Thursday night for urgent medical treatment, and he used witchcraft to come back on Friday to visit the Dape Community and other areas in Abuja,” Olayinka wrote. He further joked that the minister would require more “witchcraft” to resume road project inspections on Monday.

The post from Wike’s aide has gone viral, drawing laughter and mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with many lauding the witty response while others questioned the credibility of the original rumor. The statement effectively quashed the speculation about Wike’s health, reaffirming his active presence in Abuja.
