Tragic: FMC Abeokuta Audit Head Jumps Into Well, Dies

The acting Head of Audit at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Adeniyi Oluwaseun, tragically took his own life on Sunday. He reportedly jumped into a well in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, just after having his dinner.

Reports suggest that Adeniyi, who was preparing for an exciting family event—the upcoming wedding of one of his children—was in a seemingly normal state before the tragedy occurred. His body was later retrieved from the well and transferred to a morgue.

While the reasons for this heartbreaking act remain unknown, sources indicate that Adeniyi had struggled with mental health issues in the past, though the specifics of his condition were not disclosed.

Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident. He expressed the hospital’s deep sorrow over the loss. “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development,” Orisajo said.

He went on to describe Adeniyi as a dedicated and loyal employee whose death has shocked both the staff and management. “The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss. The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” Orisajo added.
