Delta APC War: Nwoko’s Camp Fights Back, Accuses Nwaoboshi Of Defection Plot
By Mani Onyero
The dirty fight between Senator Ned Nwoko and his predecessor in the Senate, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for the soul of the All Progressives Congress, APC was on Wednesday getting messier with the camp of the incumbent accusing the former senator of plotting to defect from the APC.
GWG.ng reports that the allegation came following the serious objection by the camp of Senator Nwaoboshi to the planned defection of Nwoko from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the opposition party in the state.
Nwaoboshi in rejecting the planned defection of Nwoko had also accused the incumbent senator of plotting with collaborators in Abuja to dissolve the party structures in the state and with it instigate a fight against the present party leaders in the state.
Nwaoboshi had also accused Nwoko of not relating with party members in the constituency but rather only being fixated with bigwigs in Abuja who he insinuated will help him to fight the APC leaders in the state.
However, fighting back the Nwoko camp has accused Nwaoboshi of being narrowminded and putting his ego before the collective interest of the party. The Nwoko camp further accused Nwaoboshi of “undermining President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to broaden the party’s base and restore its footing.”
A source in the Nwoko camp revealed:
“Nwaoboshi may defect from the party and hence his efforts to destroy the party’s efforts to win the 2027 election,” the source said.
Elaborating, the source continued:
“Nwaoboshi’s leadership has been marked by electoral defeats and stagnation in Delta North. In contrast, Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko has demonstrated a commitment to addressing critical national issues and has garnered attention and support from the presidency.
“The APC’s willingness to collaborate with Senator Nwoko is a strategic move, vital for the party’s future success in Delta North. However, Nwaoboshi’s refusal to welcome Senator Nwoko and his insistence on clinging to an outdated hierarchy risk alienating party faithfuls and weakening the APC’s chances.
“It’s time for Nwaoboshi to set aside personal ambitions and prioritize the collective good of the party. By working together with Senator Nwoko, as Nwoko’s coming will lead the APC to new heights in Delta North and beyond.
“As seen in other states, sabotaging the president’s efforts can have negative consequences,” the Nwoko camp said in rebuffing Nwaoboshi’s rejection of the incumbent senator’s entry into the APC.
