Breaking: Nigerian Governor Loses Brother

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has tragically lost his elder brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde.
GWG.ng reports that the 65-year-old passed away in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025.
The news of Engr. Sunday Makinde’s death was shared by his younger brother, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, in a statement. Chief Olumuyiwa, who is the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland and Head of the Aigbofa Family of Oja’ba in Ibadan, revealed that his brother passed away at his residence in Ibadan at around 3:20 a.m.
“With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday 24th of January 2025,” the statement said. “His sudden death occurred in his Ibadan residence at 3.20am today, Friday 24th January 2025.”
The statement further mentioned that Engr. Sunday Makinde is survived by his siblings, including his brother, Governor Seyi Makinde, along with his children and grandchildren.
As of now, Governor Makinde has not issued an official statement regarding his brother’s passing.
GWG.ng reports that the death of Governor Makinde’s brother is coming amid reports of the distress at the state’s top teaching hospital, the University Teaching Hospital, UCH following lack of power supply.
