Yul Edochie marital advice

Veteran actor-turned-pastor Yul Edochie has sparked intense online debate with his advice on toxic marriages, urging people to walk away instead of resorting to violence.

Veteran Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, now a self-proclaimed pastor, has stirred significant online discussion following his advice on handling troubled marriages.

In a thought-provoking social media post, Yul Edochie emphasized the importance of walking away from abusive or dysfunctional marriages rather than resorting to violence.

Sharing his perspective, Yul wrote:
“If your marriage is not working, let go. Walk away. I saw the video of the lady that was burnt by her husband, and it broke my heart. Those having marital issues, listen up: Even if you catch your wife with another man, there’s no justification for harming her. If you catch your husband with another woman, there can be no justification for harming him. Don’t kill another human being because of marriage. Marriage is not do or die. Walk away.”

Edochie’s post came in response to a recent incident where a woman tragically lost her life due to domestic violence. His stance has attracted widespread reactions, both supportive and critical, from netizens who weighed in on the sensitive topic.

While some commended Edochie’s message, others questioned his credibility as a messenger, given his personal marital controversies.

One user, @Weeflyintl, expressed disagreement with Edochie’s advice, stating, “Not biblical—only for the sake of adultery, Mr. Pastor.” Meanwhile, @bekeeszn noted, “Right message, wrong messenger.”

Others resonated with his viewpoint. @Hairbandsplug agreed, saying, “He’s absolutely right here,” while @Presidencyinc_ sarcastically remarked, “Lost son don drop motivational quote o… 😂.”

However, criticism also poured in, with users highlighting Edochie’s past infidelity scandals. @Abonibasket0147 quipped, “Thank God May [Edochie’s first wife] didn’t harm you when she caught you with another woman.”

For some, the advice hit home. @TrustPhath remarked, “Most people wouldn’t even understand this, but leaving an abusive marriage is fine by the way.” Similarly, @FullMetalJacket stated, “True talk!”

Despite the heated debate, some users urged Yul Edochie to practice what he preaches on marriage. @Faithehistalkslife observed, “Alright, he’s making sense o, but you see in this life, try to lead by example.”

The Yul Edochie post has drawn attention to the broader issue of domestic violence and the societal pressure to remain in failing marriages. While reactions remain divided, many agree that the conversation is necessary, highlighting the need for peaceful resolutions to marital conflicts.

Yul Edochie’s advice on marriage may be seen as polarizing, but it has reignited discussions on the importance of prioritizing safety and well-being over the societal stigma of divorce. As @AFC_SMA aptly summarized, “First sensible talk from Yul.”
