Gov Okpebholo Suspends Aide For Insubordination
By Benjamin Abioye

The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has suspended Ahmed Musa Momoh, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Edo State Flood, Erosion, and Watershed Management Agency (FEWMA), for alleged insubordination.
This decision to suspend Ahmed Musa Momoh as the executive director of FEWMA was conveyed through a statement issued by the Edo governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua and is to take immediate effect.
The governor directed Mr. Momoh to hand over all government property in his possession to the most senior public servant in the agency and proceed on immediate leave. Further instructions regarding his position are to come directly from the Governor.
Besides the suspension of the FEWMA head, in a related development, the Edo State Ministry of Local Government, Community, and Chieftaincy Affairs has announced the suspension of the planned turbaning ceremony and appointment of Chiefs and Village Heads in the South Ibie Kingdom.
The ceremony, which was scheduled for January 25, 2025, in Iyakpi, South Ibie, has been halted due to concerns over potential security threats surrounding the event.
The ministry’s statement emphasized, “In light of the security threats at the disposal of the Ministry of Local Government, Community, and Chieftaincy Affairs, the proposed Turbaning Ceremony and the appointment of Chiefs and Village Heads by Umoru Inusa Umoru are hereby put on hold. Any other acts planned by Umoru in his capacity as the purported Aidenogie of South Ibie must be halted immediately, pending clearance from the appropriate authorities.”
Reports suggest that Mr. Momoh disregarded government directives by engaging in actions that could disrupt peace within the South Ibie community. His suspension underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and order across the state.
