Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has addressed the controversy surrounding his removal, calling the allegations leveled against him “fictitious and unsubstantiated.”

Obasa spoke at a welcome rally at his residence in Joel Ogunnaike GRA, Ikeja, on Saturday, expressing his belief that any removal should be carried out within the boundaries of the law.

According to Obasa, his removal was orchestrated while he was away, allegedly with the involvement of the Police. He claimed that the Commissioner of Police led security agents to invade the Assembly premises ahead of his ouster, adding that his properties in Agege and Ikeja were raided by over 200 policemen, who reportedly locked his family inside the house.

Obasa dismissed the significance of his removal, saying, “If I am not Speaker, that’s not the end of the world. But if you claim I am corrupt, then please prove it.” He also took a jab at the allegations surrounding his financial dealings, particularly questioning the claim of spending N16 billion on a gate, adding, “It’s not like it’s the Jericho wall.”

GWG.ng reports that supporters of Mudashiru Obasa, gathered in large numbers on Saturday morning at his residence on Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja.

The crowd, wearing pro-Obasa attire such as vests and caps are massing to receive him following his trip to the United States. The supporters are say they want to accord him what they describe as a “heroic welcome.”
