Tinubu Orders N-Power Overhaul For Youth Jobs
By Benjamin Abioye

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated a reform of the N-Power scheme aimed at enhancing its productivity and impact on Nigerian youth.
The reform is designed to directly connect young Nigerians with the private sector and the broader market, ensuring that the skills they acquire lead to tangible job opportunities.
In a statement on X, Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, shared the key objectives of the reform:
“The reform aims to connect youth not only through training but also by linking them directly to the market space and private sector, ensuring that acquired skills translate into viable job opportunities.”
This change is expected to create a more impactful connection between youth training programs and real job opportunities, which will help to reduce unemployment and enhance economic stability.
To support the reform, President Tinubu revealed that “over 100,000 items have been procured to empower youth across the country.” These items are meant to equip young Nigerians with the tools needed to succeed in their chosen fields, enabling them to make a positive contribution to the economy.
Additionally, the President announced the approval of ₦32.7 billion for the implementation of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP) in 2025. This funding will be used to drive various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, especially the vulnerable populations.
One key component of the initiative will be cooperative clusters, through which Nigerians will benefit from low-interest loans of ₦300,000 to ₦400,000. These loans are designed to help individuals, particularly women and youth, launch or expand small businesses, providing them with the opportunity to improve their livelihoods.
President Tinubu emphasized that the year 2025 holds great promise for Nigerians: “2025 promises to be a year of rewards for all Nigerians who have had to go through ongoing economic reforms as the administration seeks to fulfill the #RenewedHope Agenda.”
With these reforms, the government aims to strengthen its commitment to reducing poverty, creating job opportunities, and improving the living standards of Nigerians.
