Nigerians Wait For Tinubu’s Aides After Peter Obi’s Yahoo-Yahoo Bomb!

Nigerians were on Sunday waiting with bated breath after opposition leader, Peter Obi claimed that the corruption in government was more evil than that perpetrated by Yahoo boys.

In the latest brush at the Bola Tinubu government, opposition leader and 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP Peter Obi has alleged that the corruption in government is worse than that seen among Yahoo Boys.

Speaking as a guest speaker at Nexford University’s 4th graduation ceremony in Lagos, Obi described Nigeria as a “crime scene” plagued by systemic corruption. He lamented the misuse of public resources, asserting that the country’s problems stem largely from its leadership.

“When we talk about vices, it’s not just Yahoo boys. There are actually more Yahoo people in government than outside. The entire country has been turned into a crime scene, with people inside and outside stealing,” Peter Obi declared in what many will consider as condescending in his comparison of the government under President Tinubu to Yahoo boys.

He urged the graduates to rise above societal challenges and become agents of change by upholding integrity and responsibility. According to him, the nation needs strong, morally upright leaders to ignite meaningful progress.

“It’s about leadership and igniting the future. It’s not rocket science, but it requires strong character and the ability to resist wrongdoing,” Obi said.

Encouraging the graduates to use their education to contribute to national development, Obi acknowledged the failures of previous generations, admitting their inaction had left younger Nigerians bearing the brunt of the nation’s challenges.

“You are victims of Nigeria because our generation and the one before us refused to do what is right, and now you’re bearing the consequences,” he noted.

Obi also highlighted the potential of online education to address Nigeria’s educational deficiencies, citing successful hybrid models in countries like India, Pakistan, and Turkey. He called for significant investments in education, which he described as a critical driver of societal development.

“We need to invest in mass education because it is a critical tool for development. The more educated a society is, the more developed it becomes,” Obi concluded.

The event, which celebrated academic achievements, turned into a powerful call for reform, with Obi challenging the next generation to help transform Nigeria into a better society.

GWG.ng reports that Peter Obi’s charge to the graduates may, however, have been clouded in the media space by his allusions to yahoo boys.
