Speed Darlington’s Lawyer Withdraws
By Benjamin Abioye

The lawyer representing controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, Stan Alieke, has officially announced that his firm, Law Capitol, will no longer act as the legal representative for Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye.
Alieke stated, “I and my firm (Law Capitol) have officially withdrawn from legally representing Mr. Speed Darlington Achakpo AKA Speed Darlington/Akpi and henceforth cease to act as his legal attorneys.”
This announcement has sparked a flurry of reactions from the public, with many expressing surprise and concern over the situation. Social media users have shared their opinions on the development. Dipo Adedipe, a Twitter user, described the decision as “a brilliant move for a decent lawyer,” while also suggesting that Speed Darlington should “find a more animated self-acclaimed human rights lawyer.”
DJ Wizkel, another user, humorously pointed out, “He better hire someone else or else,” implying that Darlington’s legal issues may continue. Others seemed more critical of the singer’s behavior, with Big Baz commenting, “Dem don advice am tire, he no wan listen.”
The situation has sparked even more discussion, with some followers questioning Speed Darlington’s behavior. One user, known as Mission man, claimed, “When I said Akpi is F00lish who has failed day after day to leverage on the popularity he has… Now he made a fresh video and his lawyer doesn’t want to represent him again.”
However, there were also more empathetic reactions, with some users like Donald Genes expressing hope that the singer would learn from his mistakes. “Hopefully, this should reset his brain to behave properly and stop stoking embers of unnecessary issues with Burna Boy,” Donald said.
In light of the recent developments, the Nigerian public has expressed mixed feelings, with some blaming Speed Darlington for not heeding advice and others pointing out that he has been unfair to his lawyer and the law firm. Several users also commented on his recent video and questioned the necessity of his actions.
This news comes after Speed Darlington’s release from Kuje Prison, where he had been detained due to a legal battle involving his accusations against Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy. Following his release, Speed Darlington’s ongoing legal troubles have now been complicated further by his lawyer’s withdrawal from the case. The drama surrounding him continues to capture the attention of the public, leaving many eager to see what comes next for the singer.
