Suspected Kidnapper Arrested During Sympathy Visit To Victim’s Home

A suspected kidnapper was arrested in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State after being recognized during a visit to offer sympathy to one of his victims.
The police in Niger State have announced the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, Nasiru Isyaka who was identified when he joined others during a sympathy visit to the victim.
The Niger State police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, identifying the suspect as Nasiru Isyaka. Isyaka, along with his gang, had previously attacked the village of Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu, killing one person and abducting two others.
“On January 17th, 2025, at about 10 a.m., officers from ‘A’ Division Kontangora arrested Nasiru Isyaka of Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village,” the statement disclosed.
The attack occurred on December 29th, 2024, when armed men invaded the village, killed a resident, and kidnapped two people. The victims were later rescued through coordinated efforts by security agencies.
Abiodun explained that Isyaka was identified and arrested during his visit to one of the rescued victims’ homes. “Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect was recognized and arrested while visiting one of the victims at their home,” he added.
The police recovered a locally made short gun from the suspect, who has since admitted to the crime.
Isyaka has been transferred to the police headquarters in Minna for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Besides the arrest of the kidnapper during the visit to his victim, he police in Niger have also announced ongoing efforts to capture the remaining members of the gang.
