Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, has accused her former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, also known as Eezeetee, of spreading false rumors about the paternity of her son.

Mercy Chinwo, who welcomed a baby boy with her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, in 2023, revealed her frustrations on the paternity of her son in a video shared on her Instagram page.

After the couple revealed their baby’s face, rumors began circulating that the child was fathered by gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey. Mercy claimed that Eezeetee was behind these false stories, motivated by his dislike for Nathaniel Bassey. She also referenced a letter from her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, which was published on social media on January 25, addressing these issues.

Mercy clarified that she never took legal action against Eezeetee over her music catalog. She emphasized that despite Eezeetee playing the victim, it was he who had bullied her. She explained that the toxic nature of her relationship with him led her to move from Lagos to Port Harcourt.

Describing the emotional toll she endured over the paternity rumours over her son and other issues, Mercy Chinwo said, “He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life. It got to a point where I had to move from Lagos to Port Harcourt because this man made the environment toxic for me.” She further stated that the online bullying and threats she is facing now are nothing compared to what she went through during her time with Eezeetee.

Besides the stress over the parternity rumours of her son, Mercy Chinwo also expressed her pain over how Eezeetee seized her royalties for two years. “You are a bully. You’re an oppressor,” she said, adding, “One of my major crimes was when I did a song with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey. Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, you went as far as sponsoring fake news about an innocent child, my son. And you said my son was not my son. You paid bloggers because you hate Pastor Jerry Eze.” She questioned, “The people you fight, I must fight them with you?”
