Tinubu’s Aide Mocks Atiku

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over a scuffle that broke out at its national secretariat.

He also criticized the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, urging him to fix the crisis in his party instead of blaming the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Taking to his account on the X platform, Olusegun ridiculed the PDP for failing to complete its national secretariat building since 2008, despite raising significant funds for the project. He argued that a party struggling with its internal affairs should not be talking about rescuing the country in 2027.

“A party that began the construction of a national secretariat worth N16bn in 2008. Despite raising over N62bn through fundraising, the 12-storey project remains an unfulfilled ambition wants to ‘Rescue Nigeria,’” he wrote.

He also called on Atiku to reflect on his party’s failures rather than blaming the ruling APC. “Perhaps Alhaji @atiku needs to do more introspection rather [than] blaming our party for the inability of his party [to] be useful to the nation both as a ruling party and an opposition party,” Olusegun added, while sharing a video of the altercation at the PDP secretariat.

The remarks from Tinubu’s aide follow the commotion that erupted during the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja. The meeting, presided over by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, turned chaotic when a party chieftain, Sunday Ude-Okoye, was denied entry.

Ude-Okoye attempted to force his way in but was stopped by a party protocol officer and an aide to Samuel Anyanwu, Emmanuel Okoronkwo. His supporters then climbed the fence into the secretariat, overpowering those blocking his access to the meeting.

Following the scuffle, security was heightened at the PDP headquarters, with police and military vehicles patrolling the area to maintain order.

The PDP is currently facing a leadership crisis, with Samuel Anyanwu and Ude-Okoye both laying claim to the position of National Secretary.
