Basketmouth Explains Position On 2Baba Divorce Saga

Popular Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, has finally broken his silence after being repeatedly asked to comment on the ongoing marital drama between singer 2Baba and his wife, Annie Idibia.

Reports surfaced on Sunday evening that 2Baba had announced his separation from Annie, a revelation that has since created intense debate on social media, with fans and celebrities weighing in.

However, in a viral video shared on his Instagram page on Saturday, Basketmouth made it clear that he had no intention of getting involved in the controversy. Addressing those questioning his silence, he explained that he had known 2Baba for 27 years and met Annie 24 years ago but did not consider himself qualified to speak on their personal matters.

“First of all, I’m not in any position to get involved because I’m not qualified at all. Make I no go talk the one wey go make people remember my own, con dey drag my head,” Basketmouth said, referencing his own divorce in 2022.

The comedian emphasized that he was determined to avoid controversy in 2025, urging people not to push him into a conversation he had no interest in joining.

“This new year 2025 wey we just enter, I’m just trying to have an undraggable year. Please, don’t push me,” he added.

Basketmouth statement has since stirred mixed reactions, with some praising his decision to stay out of the drama while others insisted that public figures like him should speak on trending issues.
