Emotions ran high in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as veteran gospel filmmaker and actor, Moses Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, was laid to rest in a solemn farewell ceremony.

65-year-old gospel icon and filmmaker Moses Are, popularly known to many as Baba Gbenro who passed away in November 2024 after battling liver disease, was honored by family, friends, and colleagues in a deeply emotional tribute on Friday.

Dressed in white and blue, mourners gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the Calvary Movies Drama Ministry founder. The burial ceremony was filled with hymns, prayers, and heartfelt eulogies, reflecting the deep respect and admiration the popular gospel filmmaker earned throughout his career.

Christian video podcast Zion Kulture shared heart-wrenching images from the ceremony on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the raw grief of loved ones. One of the photos showed his gold-trimmed casket, surrounded by tearful well-wishers paying their final respects.

Baba Gbenro’s impact on gospel filmmaking was undeniable, as many prominent figures from the Christian film industry attended the ceremony to honor his contributions. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to using film as a tool for evangelism, touching countless lives with faith-based storytelling.

His passing leaves a huge void in the Christian movie industry, but his legacy of inspiration and devotion will continue to live on through his works.
