Tems’ Grammy Win Makes Nigeria Proud – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, for winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

In a statement released on Monday, Tinubu praised Tems for her exceptional talent, which has once again brought pride to Nigeria on the global stage. He acknowledged her success as a testament to the country’s growing influence in the international music industry.

The President also celebrated the rise of a new generation of Nigerian artists who have helped propel Afrobeats to worldwide recognition. He highlighted how their creativity and talent have strengthened Nigeria’s reputation as a hub for musical innovation and cultural impact.

“From Africa to Antarctica, Asia to Australia, Europe to the Americas, the Nigerian music industry, particularly Afrobeats, has become a source of national pride, promoting a sense of identity and self-expression while uniting people across borders,” Tinubu stated.

He also extended his congratulations to other Nigerian artists nominated for the Grammys, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Tinubu expressed gratitude for their contributions to the global music scene, acknowledging their role in showcasing Nigeria’s creative excellence.

“You are all inspirations and role models to many young people. The nation remains deeply grateful for your contributions to music, job creation, and tourism promotion. I wish you all continued success in your musical careers,” he said.
