Nigerian music executive Ubi Franklin has criticized music producer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, for mocking Afrobeat singer Davido after his loss at the 67th Grammy Awards.

GWG.ng reports that Davido had received six nominations from the Recording Academy but did not win any awards. Following this, Samklef took to his X handle on Monday, suggesting that Davido’s colleagues, Burna Boy and Wizkid, would be laughing at him over the outcome.

He also praised singer Tems for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 2025 Grammys. Samklef further stated that money alone cannot guarantee success without real talent.

Reacting to these comments, Ubi Franklin urged Samklef to stop making disrespectful remarks about Davido. He pointed out that Davido is not the first artist to be nominated without winning and that such experiences are common in the industry.

He wrote, “Samklef you actually need to stop this please, David is not the first person who has gotten nominated and hasn’t won yet. Chris Brown after 25 Nominations he just got two.”

Ubi also dismissed the idea that Burna Boy and Wizkid were mocking Davido, stating that they were likely unbothered by the Grammy results.

He added, “Stop dragging David into your continuous disrespectful commentary. I am very certain Burna and Wiz aren’t even bothered about the outcome yesterday at the Grammy. I have spoken to you in private as my friend, you need to actually stop this rubbish you have been doing, please stop.”
